...water column?
It is a measure of how well a material resists water pressure. It is said that garments over 8,000mm in water column keep tight against large amounts of rain. Below 8,000mm is considered water-repellent and upwards of 12,000mm is for extreme weather.
...a snow skirt?
, is located under the garment and is usually placed over the abdomen on a jacket or at the end of the sleeves. On a pair of pants, they are located at the leg cuffs. It is an opening on the garment that is usually hidden behind a tight zipper. It is designed to allow you to let air into the garment when you feel warm. A great feature especially on shell garments that do not always have top-class breathability. These openings are usually located under the arms on ski jackets and on the inside or outside of the thighs on ski pants. Some garments have an opening in mesh, some without.

Ski jackets are always equipped with practical pockets both inside and outside, spacious hood to accommodate the helmet, and adjustable cuffs, hem, and hood.
Ski pants come in several different variations and fits. High ski pants with bib, with suspenders, and without suspenders. Relatively tight-fitting variants and more loose-fit. Again, it's a matter of preference for the garment. Ski pants are almost always equipped with practical pockets, reinforced areas, and adjustable waist.

Remember to dress according to temperature and activity. We recommend always having the 3-layer principle as a base. That is, a moisture-wicking first layer (base layer), a warming second layer (such as a fleece sweater), and a weather-resistant third layer, any of the above.
