Dressing right is key! Autumn comes with lower temperatures, and even though it can be warm in the sun, it's often chilly in the wind. We recommend layering up. We usually follow the 3-layer principle, which in short is a functional base layer, a warming middle layer, and a weather-resistant third layer. It's a very practical way to dress regardless of whether the temperature shows 15° or 5° because you can adjust the number of layers and dress on and off depending on the temperature and activity.
When the autumn chill is here, it's important to take care of the little hands and head with warm accessories. In that category, there are plenty of options; waterproof rain hats and gloves, knitted hats that provide warmth, and sturdy gloves with a lined inside and durable outside. It all simply depends on the occasion and how and when your child plays outdoors.
Autumn tends to come with unpredictable weather, changing hours of sun with rain showers. And we want to be able to play and have fun outdoors regardless of the weather, right? A tip is lined rain clothes, they have a warming lining inside and a durable outer fabric that is tight against both wind and water – perfect if the rain falls!
Boots are also a good tip for rainy days, there are both lined and unlined options to choose from – depending on the temperature and how warm your feet are. Boots are also a good choice even when it's not raining, as they also repel dirt (which is easy to come by during outdoor play).
Autumn holidays are all about fun and games, it's been around for ages. Our big tip is to invest in sporty toys that entertain and are loved by our juniors. Balls of all shapes and sizes are always a hit and there are endless games and sports that can be played with them. A kickbike or skateboard are also fun activities where you can ride, do tricks and show off your skills. And don't forget the helmet!
It's the holidays! And there's nothing better than having days off without any demands to play outside in the lovely autumn weather.
Take the kids out, cosy up with hot chocolate during play breaks and enjoy the time off together!
1. Walk in the forest
The Scandinavian autumn is full of beautiful colours, especially in the woods and fields. Go for a walk in the forest and breathe in the fresh air. If you're lucky, you might find some tasty mushrooms or berries to take home and cook together!
2. Arts and crafts
Crafting is such a cosy activity that the whole family can participate in, young and old. Go out and look for different signs of autumn such as colourful leaves, beautiful chestnuts and pine cones and bring them inside. Then the only thing that can stop you is your imagination! Will it be a small village with little cone families and chestnut men perhaps?
3. Have an autumn picnic
Autumn is our cosy season and what rhymes better with cosy than a picnic? Bring hot chocolate, buns, or why not sausages and bread and enjoy the lovely colours of the trees in the crisp autumn air!
4. Jump in puddles of water
It may be wet, but it's so much fun! An activity that entertains both young and old. Who can find the biggest puddle and who can splash the most?
5. Go on a treasure hunt
Add some excitement to everyday life and create a treasure hunt. The treasure can be anything you like and clues can be placed around the garden, indoors or maybe in the letterbox? A cosy activity that encourages cooperation and problem solving (and of course a mythical treasure!).
