Start by defining your trip length. A daypack won’t serve the same purpose as a trekking pack.
Day hikes (20–40 liters):
Ideal for short outings. Bring essentials like water, snacks, rain jacket, and first aid.
Multi-day hikes (40–70 liters):
Large enough to carry clothing, food, sleeping gear, and other long-distance essentials.
Proper weight distribution is key to comfort:
60–70% of the weight on your hips
30–40% on your shoulders
Adjust the hip belt, shoulder straps, and chest strap to ensure the pack hugs your back securely.
Walk with the backpack fully loaded. Make sure it stays stable and distributes the weight evenly. If it feels good during movement, it’ll feel good during your hike.
