Black Weekend usually stretches from Black Friday on 27 November to Cyber Monday on 30 November 2026. It is an extension of Black Friday, with many retailers running offers throughout the weekend.
Cyber Monday falls on Monday 30 November 2026 and traditionally rounds off the sale period. The day originated in e-commerce as the online stores' answer to Black Friday, and often offers one last chance to grab a bargain before the Christmas shopping season kicks off in earnest.
The tradition comes from the US, where the Friday after Thanksgiving marks the start of the Christmas shopping season. One common explanation for the name is that it was the day retailers' accounts went from the red into the black – from loss to profit.
