Run all year round
Running can be done in any weather and season, as long as you have the right shoes and clothes. Don’t let weather stop you!
Choose the right clothes
Running is intense and makes you sweat. Clothes should wick moisture away, be breathable, and quick-drying. Polyester and synthetics work best. Avoid cotton as it absorbs sweat and cools you down.
Dress appropriately
A common mistake is overdressing. Rule of thumb: if you feel slightly cold during the first 1–5 minutes, you’re dressed right. Bring an extra layer to the start if needed.
Layering
Base layer: Functional fabric that wicks sweat.
Mid layer: Insulating clothes for cold weather.
Outer layer: Windproof and waterproof jacket that breathes.
Use the same layering principle for the lower body and functional underwear.
Adjust during your run
If you get too warm, adjust clothes at wrists, neck, head, and ankles. Roll up sleeves or remove your hat. Adjust early to avoid sweating too much or getting cold.
Details matter
Flat or minimal seams to prevent chafing.
Compression tights provide support and reduce irritation.
Running shirts should be lightweight, ventilated, and have thumb holes.
Running jackets should have adjustable zippers or velcro at neck and hem for ventilation and warmth.
